History 

The state enterprise “Bulgarian – German centre for professional education” – branch Smolyan is a successor of  the same named institution, established with Act 283 / 23.11.2007 of the Counsils of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria and as a result of the ”Encouragement of the professional education of adults and business in Bulgaria” project accomplished by the Ministry of labour and social politics of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The project was financed by the Bulgarian and German governments and the municipality of Smolyan. The executant was “GOPA consultants” as an assignment of the German society for technical cooperation (GTZ). The official opening was on 22.11.2010

In 2009 the Bulgarian – German centre for professional education – branch Smolyan obtained license from the NAPOO for organization of educational courses and graduation with professional education degree. The license has Nr. 200912804 / 10.12.2009. On 01.07.2011 the centre was incorporated into an union together with the other four Bulgarian – German centres in Bulgaria. The new union became a state enterprise with a central management and residence in Sofia.

The state enterprise “Bulgarian – German centre for professional education” – branch Smolyan has a modern base which consists of two buildings: a hotel / hospice and  educational premises. The main activity of the centre is organization of professional education, for obtaining of basic competences in the fields of tourism, and also, consultation of beginning entrepreneurs from the small and middle business.

Mission

Mission of the state enterprise “Bulgarian – German centre for professional education” – branch Smolyan is the organization of quality professional education, oriented towards the real necessities of the labour market.

Purpose

Main purpose is the enhancement of the professional qualification of the jobless and giving better opportunities.

Priorities

  • Quality education for adults in the fields of tourism, economics, IT and foreign languages;
  • Development and establishment of innovations in the professional education sphere, according to the state educational requirements and the requisites of the labour market;
  • Research of the trends through interaction with companies from the above-mentioned spheres, needed for development of actual professional education of the personnel.
